Niklas is a doctoral student interested in latent intensity scales. Combining methods from Natural Language Processing, Computational Social Science and Network Science, his interests are particularly centred around numbers in text, conflict intensity and sentiment analysis. After completing a MSc in Data Science at UCL, he worked at the interface of these fields at the IBM AI Core Team, Microsoft Research Cambridge and the German Federal Foreign Office in Shanghai. During his BSc in Information Management Systems at TU Berlin, Niklas spent 6 months at the University of Oxford and 12 months at Tsinghua University in Beijing funded by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation / Studienstiftung.
